Another layout from A Million Memories December kit. I managed to finish this one off in between making cinnamon buns and cooking a lasagna for supper! We went to the Festival of Trees at the beginning of the month and they had some gorgeous trees! My girls hugged each other as they admired each one...so sweet!

Have a Merry Christmas Everyone!!

I am - November Scrapbook Trends

This layout was in the November issue of Scrapbook Trends...SO excited about that:-)

Went to the mall today with kids in tow so I really didn't get any Christmas shopping done. I wanted to be done before the December madness hit but that didn't happen. Anyone all ready yet??

You Shine

Took a few days off from scrapbooking and my house is now clean, I have been cooking and baking, started Christmas shopping and have begun a new book! But clean houses are overrated and scrapbooking is SO much fun so my "break" is over:-)

I had fun with this layout - I made my own glittery star embellishments and now the sparkles are turning up EVERYWHERE!!! I also broke out the paint again. Click on the layout to see anything bigger or to read the journaling.

I had a heck of a time with the basic grey pearls coming from the star - that is SO NOT it's original shape. It got all tangled up on me, more than once, and I had to piece it together again. Anyone have any great suggestions for how not to get them all tangled up??

Have a great weekend!!

Star Album Tutorial

I did this tutorial for JuJu Bees Scrapbook Corner. I make these star albums every year for stocking stuffers for family and friends:-) They are super easy and fun to make!

If you have never made one before, here is one way to make them:

Step 1: Cut seven 4 x 12 pieces of cardstock (mine is red)
Step 2: From these strips, cut at 5.5 inches. You will now have seven pieces of 5.5 and seven pieces of 6.5 inch pieces.
Step 3: Cut four 4x12 strips of cardstock (mine is white). Then cut these in half at 6 inches.
Step 4: You will now have all of your pieces to make this album.
Step 5: Fold all of the pieces in half.
Step 6: Put adhesive on the biggest piece and the medium piece on the outside edge only.
Step 7: Adhere them together - edges only - with the smallest piece on the inside.
Step 8: Continue to do this with all of your pieces.
Step 9: Time for finishing touches! Adhere some patterned paper over a piece of chipboard (I used a cut up cereal box). Adhere a piece of ribbon to the front and back of your book and then place your covers over top.
Step 10: Your star book is complete! Add embellishments as desired!

ipod touch

This girl of mine is OBSESSED with her Daddy's ipod touch. She LOVES to play the games on it and her favourite is the one she is showing in the picture, where she gets to dress up the girl in outfits and choose accessories and a pet for her. I feel bad for her Daddy though, now when he comes home it is "hi daddy, can I have the ipod?" instead of her usual excitement to see him...it is all about the ipod..lol!

I did this layout for a challenge over at A Million Memories to scrap a photo that you just took. Speaking of A Million Memories, I am thrilled to have been chosen as the December Guest Designer!! Hooray!! Check it out here. They have amazing kits over there and a fabulous community of scrappers:-)

I also included acrylic paint in this layout, which is the challenge going on right now over at Practical Scrappers. I used the paint to edge my cardboard heart and the edges of my patterned paper circles!

Friends Award

I received this award the other day from the fabulous Haley G - she is the sweetest and you can check her blog out here. Thanks Haley!! :-)

And here is what the award stands for:
This award is bestowed onto blogs that are exceedingly charming. These bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes cut, even more friendships are propagated.

Now it is my turn to pass this one to five of my blogging buddies! These ladies are all so sweet and so friendly! Here they are, in no particular order:

Happy Place Layout - using Page Maps Sketch

The sketches from Page Maps are THE BEST!! Right now there is a contest going on using this sketch, so I thought I would play along. I had so much fun doing this layout! Click on my layout to see it bigger and to read the journaling.

Supplies:
Felt - Close to my Heart
All paper - Close to my Heart
Stamps - Close to my Heart
Embroidery Floss - Close to my Heart
Title - jillibean soup
Brads - Bo Bunny
Clouds - imaginisce
Journaling Paper - Making Memories

I also thought I would show you how I made my flowers with a few stamps and tissue paper:) For my first step, I stamped a flower onto cardstock and cut it out. I am using this as my template. I then traced it out onto four layers of tissue paper and cut this out. I then stamped a background stamp onto each layer. Finally I poked a hole through the center of them all and adhered them together with a brad. Voila, the tissue paper flower is now ready for my project! Fun! Hope you try it!

Wink - Creative Scrappers Sketch 75

Creative Scrappers reveal today! Here is my take on sketch #75 ... and that is my last layout for Creative Scrappers as a design team member. It has been fun and I will definitely still be using their fabulous sketches!! My layout was a quick and easy one to document my youngest trying very hard to wink. She is the cutest. I also played along with Practical Scrappers challenge to use "lace cardstock" on your layout - I am way behind for that challenge though since I couldn't post it until today for the Creative Scrappers reveal!

Most of the supplies used are Cosmo Cricket.

Things you say

I wanted to do a layout to remember the cute things my three year old says. She speaks so well now that these are the last of the funny mis-pronunciations:)

All product is from Close to my Heart, except for the title, which is AC Thickers.

Candy Monsters

I was thrilled to be a guest designer for a la Carte, a fabulous challenge blog where you pick your own challenge from the menu! This is the menu this month:

1. orange, black, green, and purple
2. paper piercing
3. glitter
4. a "monstrous" embellishment
5. 3 photos
6. a candy wrapper

So for my layout, I used orange, black, green and purple, I used my piercing tool to make holes all around my orange piece of paper and I also cut out the monsters, I have glitter on my "candy" letters, I used a "monstrous" flourish and bracket (as well, I included monsters:-), I have three photos, and there are candy wrappers in the photos! Fun, fun! Aphra's layout is fabulous so go and check it out here! Have a wonderful day!
