GCD Studios layout and challenge

Today was my turn on the GCD Studios blog and the layout I created was inspired by these gorgeous flower photos. The pink flowers immediately made me think of my oldest daughter since, she loves all things pink, and she is also blooming into a wonderful young lady - a little faster than I hoped:-)

I used the beautiful papers from the Homespun Chic collection as well as the Smoothie Shoppe collection and they mixed together perfectly! I added a pull out journaling tag on my layout and attached the gorgeous glass brad from the Artsy Urban collection. My favorite item from the Artsy Urban collection is the Inspiration Cards and the butterfly with the words "embracing change was the perfect addition for my page!

I am hosting a challenge over at Two Peas in a bucket right now! So let these photos inspire your next project and you could win some YUMMY GCD Studios goodies!! Check it out HERE.

After you check that out, stop by Teresa Collins Designs Blog - there is a fun give a way!!

Save your scraps - GCD Studios

Here is my layout and flower tutorial that went up on the GCD Studios blog today!!
With Spring in the air, I have been on a huge kick of adding butterflies and flowers to my projects. I absolutely LOVE this flocked butterfly that I cut out from the Artsy Urban collection - it is so soft and it mixed beautifully with the papers from the Homespun Chic collection. I continued the butterfly theme at the top of my page, where I misted over an old die cut I had. For added texture, I used the Chip Art tools to make a pattern on the "M" (my daughter's initial). And finally, I made my own cute flower out of paper scraps and today, I am going to show you how to make one!
It is super easy! Here are the steps:
1. Cut 5 paper strips to 3.5 inches long.
2. Fold to desired thickness.
3. Make a loop by glueing ends together.
4. Continue glueing loops together until you have formed your flower.
5. Embellish your flower with a button or as desired!
So don't let any of your beautiful GCD Studios paper go to waste and make a cute flower out of your scraps!!

Silk and Feathers

Are you a fan of GCD Studios on facebook yet? I hope so because there is an amazing facebook team of designers to inspire you, challenge you and offer up scrappy goodies to win too:-) This month, the facebook team was inspired by silk and feathers! I played along and made a couple of baby cards!! I love how the silk and the feathers gives a soft feel to my cards!!

All supplies are from GCD Studios except for the feather, ribbon, letter stickers and cardstock!

Butterflies...

I have a HUGE obsession with them and I had to laugh at myself as I looked at my scrapbook desk today and ALL five projects sitting out have at least one butterfly on them!!! Maybe it is a Spring thing? Although they are calling for snow tonight...blah!

Anyways, here is one of those projects and a few close ups of the details. I used the Vintage Love line from Glitz Design for this one and boy, am I in love. The best thing...the "paper layers" - you can see one of them used on my layout - the book page with butterflies! My daughter is wearing a gorgeous dress that my Mom found for her for $1.99!!!! Seriously! Now if only we had a wedding to attend....anyone want a flower girl?? Hee hee!

Nana and Papa

This layout is from our trip to Phoenix last month. The girls were SO excited to visit their Nana and Papa! But....they are even more excited that they will be back very soon:-)

Spent the day outside today - it has been magical lately. The Northern Lights have been spectacular, the frogs have started singing and so many birds are back. I LOVE spring!!!

Grandma Love

Well I tore into my box of Glitz Design winnings this weekend...SO FUN!! When I saw the Maya collection, I thought it has a quilt-like appearance and the flowers just made me think of "Grandma" thus, this layout was born:-) My daughters adore their Grandma Love so I decided to play off her name and how much they love her and put a big heart on the page! Then, since I was feeling a bit wild, I sanded the edges of my pictures. (I know, it is pretty sad that my idea of wild on a weekend is sanding my pictures...LOL)

I did a few other layouts this weekend too, for my DT assignments, but I cant' show you just yet:-) I played with the new Melody Ross Chip Art too and it is FABULOUS. Check out the gcd studios blog today to see what it can do....HERE is the link.

You Rawk

I had the honour of playing the "You Rawk" kit from Ninabrook Designs. I chose to do two single pages and everything is from the kit except for a little bit of black cardstock and twine that I added:-) You can buy the kit HERE.

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
